Overview:
The
costs of not complying with I-9 requirements are very high. Compliance is a bit
complicated but not so bad if you know what to do. Unfortunately, many organizations do not take
the time to learn how to properly complete an I-9 form. The forms are also changed every few years.
The
presenter has conducted hundreds of I-9 audits.
The number of companies that were totally in compliance in 20 years of
conducting I-9 Audits is a big fat ZERO.
It is vital that companies get a sense of their compliance picture, asking:
- Are
we using the correct Form I-9s?
- Do we
and did we fill out the forms correctly?
- Do we
copy the documents?
- Do we
have to maintain a file of I-9 forms?
- If
so, how long do we have to keep them?
- Can
we still hire employees who do not have proper documents?
- What
can we communicate to our new and existing employees?
- How
do we fix our I-9 forms?
In
addition to increasing the number of inspections, ICE has also nearly doubled
the fines for incorrect I-9 forms to up to $2.300 per incorrect I-9 form. The
amount of the fine depends upon the percentage of incorrect I-9 forms. So, if you have 100 I-9’s and half of them
are not correct,

Why
should you attend?
As stated above, few employers complete their I-9 forms correctly. One little mistake on a form will result in a fine. If more than 50% of your I-9 forms have a mistake, it means a fine of over $1,900 for each mistake. If you have 100 employees and 50% have a mistake, your company owes over $95,000. Attend this webinar to avoid potential large fines and gain some peace of mind when all I-9’s are done correctly.
This
webinar will cover how to properly complete the I-9 form, how to verify
employment eligibility using e-Verify, and the potential consequences of
noncompliance. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to navigate
the I-9 and e-Verify process to ensure their company is in compliance with all
applicable laws and regulations.
